What to do when you have suffered a bereavement.
- The death will need to be verified by a qualified person; Doctor, registered nurse or paramedic
- Contact Mason & Stokes on 01242 224877, our phone is always answered by one of our team day or night. We will then arrange to bring the deceased into our care at our premises; Tudor Lodge, 54 Hewlett Road, Cheltenham, GL52 6AH
- The Doctors Surgery or Hospital Bereavement Office will notify the Medical Examiner
- The Medical Examiner will contact you to let you know when you can make an appointment with the Registrars
- Once you have been given permission by the Medical Examiner you can make an appointment with the Registrar to register the death, for all appointments in the Gloucestershire area telephone 01452 425060 or book online here
- Contact Mason & Stokes and we will arrange an appointment for you to come meet with one of our team to discuss and arrange the funeral service.
What will happen at the arrangement appointment?
- You will meet with one of our team in one of our private arrangement offices
- We will explain the different options for the funeral service; including where the service will be held, who will officiate the service, music options, coffin selection, vehicles etc
- There may be some official paperwork to complete – we will help you complete this
- We will look at suitable dates and time for the service
- You may not be able to answer all of the questions at the appointment, you can take time to think and get back in touch with us
- We will listen to any concerns and answer any questions
